Overlapping at the Seams

Collaborative mural with Dundee based maker, Rhona Jack.
The mural titled Overlapping at the Seams is funded by British Council’s Momentum Follow-up Fund launched at Kirk Lane footpath in May 2026.

The collaboration was a partnership between Open Close Dundee, Ahla Fawda and UNESCO City of Design Dundee.

Created using mixed media, this mural layers abstract painted forms with paper "paste-ups"—a staple street art technique. The piece honors the matriarch as a vital guardian of community and traditional knowledge, set alongside abstract depictions of olive trees and groves. Once essential to self-sustaining life, these historic groves are rapidly disappearing under the weight of ongoing ecocide in South of Lebanon and Palestine.
